DIY Scrunchies
Hey, this is my first DIY, and it's an easy one, great for beginners! If you're anything like me, you have material scraps arounf everywhere, so this is a great project to use them up!
What you'll need:
Start by cutting the elastics into 11.5 cm length strips (not including seam allowance, add about 1 cm to each side) and marking where you'll sew.
Then, cut the material of your choice into strips 35 cm long and 8 cm wide (this includes seam allowance). You can make them wider if you want a thicker scrunchie.
Fold the strips in half, with the right sides facing together. Sew up the sides of your strip, leaving about 0.5-1cm on the edge. You can hand sew if you want to, but the scrunchie may not be as strong.
Thread your elastic through the tube. I like to attach a safety pin to one end of the elastic so that it's easier to pull through.
Your material will be very scrunched up because it is much longer than the elastic.
Sew the elastic together, it's a good idea to reverse and go over it a few times, just to make sure it's strong.
After that, simply sew the edges of the material together, and you're done!
I'm pretty happy with how mine turned out! I hope you enjoyed my first DIY and have now found a use for all those scraps of material!
Victoria :)
